Water build up in passenger door step wells. (see pic)

Is this a common problem with the MK7 Transits? I wonder if my weather seals are damaged because the wells seem to fill up whenever it rains.

Any suggestions on fixing this? I'm tempted to drill some drainage holes.

Thanks in advance

Mack

...note. I have removed the weather seals for the purpose of this photo. There is a join at the bottom right by these wells which makes me wonder if the seal is supposed to be all one piece...

Same problem and yet to find a solution, the foam under the rubber mat gets soaked and i have to take it all out to dry it, opening up the drain holes doesn't help that as it's already wet by the time the water runs down there :| seems to come in somewhere above and runs down the wheel arch then down into the step well. My best guess ATM is the door seal but I can't find where the water is getting in...

My mk6 had the same and it was coming from the furthest roof joint by the back doors then down the arch and all the way to the bulkhead underneath it and into the wells. I have sealed the dodgy joint with wetrooms liquid membrane and no more water.
