Immobiliser issue

Postby mjsroofing » Sat Jul 22, 2017 10:00 am

Hi Everyone, I know I haven't been on here for a while, ( been busy with work and van is running great ) however my m8s van that I seem to repair more than my own lol. It's developed a problem.
As far as I know they somehow run the batteries flat, left beacons on I think.
Since then the van won't start and red light flashing on dash. I haven't looked at van yet but I'm looking for a few pointers.
I've told him to charge front battery and try it.
But he says it don't work. Think the immobiliser is not working.

Update, (already) the key got soaking wet and has been taken apart. All he has now is the little circuit board and a bare key.

No.

You can program your key to his van and you can then program it back to yours, but i think personally if you only have 1 key and not too confident then leave it, tell him to buy another key if his is soaked and questionable, you're not a miracle worker.

Good point there loot.

So would the key getting soaking stop the chip working.

Can I turn the immobiliser off with ids, or even de-immobiliser it.

I'm no aware of any way to turn the immobilizer off with ids, i think it would come under legal, same as clocking?

But codes will be there i think so fixing it shouldn't be too difficult, we've got diagrams if you need.

Not sure about wet key causing a problem but i believe that the chip is part of the circuit and it isn't sealed like the old glass ones so I'll say it has an electronic connection and that means a short could stop it working.
But the quickest way is to reprogram another key.

If you put this key in and ignition on but the red led just keeps flashing then it isn't reading the correct key security.

You can get a blue key fob off eBay. :-)

Do you only have 1 key for your van and he only has 1 Key for his then?

I highly recommend both getting a spare :-)
Sometimes they come on eBay cheap enough :-)
http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-TRANSIT-3- ... 3056678180?
Used (he might do a couple for cheaper, i don't know him, you'll still need key blades made but for now you just swap them while programming.

New/genuine.

Above are quick search on eBay.
I don't know the sellers they could be dodgy for all i know

If you are getting key blades cut on eBay to code what i did was get my brother to do it on his eBay that way if the worst happened they'd turn up and be meet with a vauxhall vivaro rather than my van
Trust no one :P
