Transit 2004 manual petrol engine

Postby Chucaro » Sat Jul 22, 2017 10:34 am

Hello, I would appreciate if people can give me some information about the Transit 2004 with petrol engine and manual transmision.
I have an offer of an LWB high roof partially converted van and would like to know the following:
Engine reliability and economy
Performance, are they slow as or will be Ok for touring
What to look at them, have a timing belt which needs to change? How much cost to change it and at how many Km intervals?
Any information will be appreciated'
Thank you guys for your time'
Cheers

Hi a few of us have got petrols , most in uk are diesels thoughI have 2 at the moment a luton with approx 250,000 miles 400k in kms and a jumbo with 500,000 kms . I go to North Africa in mine hence my big miles
Reliability is good put if going on a long trip take a spare coil pack and leads , fuel economy approx 9-10 kms a litre on petrol ( best to convert to lpg ) and speed pretty good compared to the diesels.
Timing chain not belt all in all they are pretty good vans but remember its now 13 years old and may have an owner inflicted fault hidden away good luck
