Mk6 tddi engine in mk7 tdci conversion speedo problem

Postby Hethaz » Sun Jul 23, 2017 10:54 pm

Hi I have just joined Forum I have viewed for many years and it's been great help for solving problems and learning new things and so decided to join as I am looking for some help, I have a 2007 mk7 115ps with big end gone, I have found someone to put a mk6 90ps tddi replacement engine and wiring harness/clocks in, but using the mk7 6speed box. Van is up and running fine, no problems and was the only affordable option I had to get van back on road. The problem is the speedo does not work, they man has done conversions before and had no problems with a 5 speed box. Is it possible to fix or is speedo fed from abs rings on mk6? Clocks are digital and worked in mk6. The engine came from a 2006. Any help would be massively appreciated, thanks

You'll need a VSS sensor (Vehicle speed sensor). This is what mk6 use for speedo.

It's located on mk6 gearbox, just above O/S intermediate drive shaft. Unfortunately mk7 gearboxes don't have this sensor fitted.

Hi thanks for you help, is there a space on the mk7 box for this sensor then? I have mk6 gearbox but it was a 5 speed. Do you think this would work?
