What type of adhesive do I need

Postby VEEMAN » Thu Jul 27, 2017 9:32 pm

I've currently running an mk6 2.3L petrol/lpg on an 04 plate.
Recently when changing the water temperature sensor in the plastic inlet manifold ( which the water thermostat housing is part of). The brass insert that holds the water temp sensor twisted out. On looking at the brass insert, it contained an O ring for a seal at the back of the insert. It looks like this brass housing was glued into position by the manufacturers.
So my question is what sort of adhesive would you use to fix a hard plastic to brass?
I glued the brass insert up only a year ago with a glued called Q40. This set in 10 seconds and could add a black powder to give it strength. I just noticed today I had a leak. It first looked like power steering fluid as it was pink. On further investigation it was coming from the water temp switch. I moved the sensor and it was slightly slack.
So has any one had a similar problem with this brass fitting. Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Cheers
Veeman
