Retrace your steps back to the "Reputable Garage" that some of us believe to be the source of your woe....I'm now wondering why you refer to said enterprise as a "Reputable Garage", is it possible that the Proprietor is a personal friend or family member? I wonder Martin Willmott, I do wonder.
I'm not the only one who thinks they have fitted "knock off" parts or failed to correctly diagnose a faulty injector....so I'm stood sitting hear wondering how they have gained their good repute considering your current plight?
If we only hear your version of events then I think the way you have been treated by a Ford Dealership is a shambles, but I encourage you to brace yourself Martin Willmott & digest the following information:
#1. Your van has failed a pilot Injection learn....despite your protestations to the contrary, your vehicle will not run perfect....how can the pilot injection supply the correct amount of fuel if it hasn't completed the learn - Mr Murphy's Universal Law will dictate that it will be wrong.
#2. Your vans PCM works on Inputs & Outputs....the Inputs need to be within a predetermined set of parameters from numerous sensors for everything to be "Cook & Curry"....if the Inputs are outside of those parameters you enter the world of Diana Ross - that's right, you find yourself in the middle of a chain reaction....I kid you not Martin Willmott, there WILL be a Chain Reaction.
#3. If you fail 3 learns in succession the Chain Reaction will be a malfunction indicator lamp & the PCM will reduce fuelling in an attempt to avoid a catastrophic failure of fuel system/engine components.
#4. During the Pilot Injection learn procedure the PCM monitors amongst other things the fuel rail pressure....if the rail pressure deviates by 10bar or more above or below the predetermined parameters an Error is flagged & the learn aborted....is this ringing any bells?
#5. Euro 4 vehicles are considerably more complex than the Euro 3 compliant vehicles they replaced....the day's of keeping an engine running on the smell of an oily rag are well & truly gone, today's automotive technician needs to have their "finger on the pulse", they need to be "switched on", "programmed in the correct language" ....are you sure Martin Willmott that the "Reputable Garage" have served you well
#6. The profits from "knock off parts" fund worldwide terrorism....they also fund houses of ill repute frequented by corrupt police officers & politicians.
I ask you to digest this information Martin Willmott & reconsider how & where you apportion blame.
