They are a fair bit thicker than glow plugs so it would take a fair bit of force to snap one. I don't think I warmed the engine up first but it was a while ago I did them so I may have done. They all came out fairly easily once I put enough pressure on the bar. I wouldn't think the threads are likely to cease up as they are protected from water by the top rubber seal and are only really exposed to engine oil unless one of the copper washers is f***.

I've heard that sometimes it can be a struggle to pull them out once undone as when there is a lot of carbon build up on the nozzle the nozzle won't come back through the hole in the cylinder. Mine all pulled out easily though so fingers crossed yours will too

They are a bit thicker than I thought, so hopefully mine should come out no problem (fingers crossed) its the carbon build up like you say grogan197 :? Need new washers and top seals before I attempt to change them, just hope these work better than what's already in the van. N

Mark the old ones before you take them out Ned,the divel you know may be better than the divil you don't  If your rubber seals are not leaking no need to change them and the washers don't give trouble if the injectors are tight  After all its a quality mk 6 not a flimsy old mk 7

These new to me injectors have washer on them that look ok to me, no3 rubber seal is leaking like a sieve  I also have some R clip leak back pipes to replace the stupid one on already.

Good idea I'll mark each one so I know where the go if I have to put the back in

My cousin dropped them off today just wish he had said I would have got the pump also too late now the car is scraped

What code do I use to code them in, is it the last 12 digit number on the label. N

When you swap them over it's a good idea to change one injector at a time and then start the engine so that you don't struggle to get it going again. If you install a dud injector then you should see straight away which one it is then too. Also I hand tightened the fuel inlet pipes and cranked the engine over quickly until there was a dribble of fuel leaking from the pipe then tightened it up properly so there was no air left in the lines.

Aye that what I was thinking, change 1 at a time, I'm off next week so I'll be getting a cheap craptop to install f super on and change the injectors over, I am planning on changing the leak back pipes to R clips.

How did you remove the stupid plastic leak back pipe connectors (the bit on the injector) do they just slide up?

Also going to get a new fuel filter and do a service on the van :D

Hopefully the bugger will run better than it does now. N

Look for picture - the best solution is to use small flat sharp screwdriver, insert it between injector and plastic arm with catch - plastic arm must relase back hinge arm (click for picture for better view).

Important notice: always when you disconnect leak back connector, it must be precisely closed against air in fuel. Leak back pipes are not going to tank, they are going to high pressure pump. If pipes wil be left open, pump become airlocked very quickly - very, very bad situation with impossible easy engine start.

Those are the ones I am fitting (or plan too) but the ones on my van are different, they have a circle plastic bit on the injector and the leak back pipe pushes into it, very bizarre. N

 Got the engine degreaser ready to give it a good clean and power wash before I even think of removing the injectors :D dread to think how much carbon is on the injector tips. N

Done one, came out easily, couldn't code it in as laptop died never to work again, the van runs rough but hopefully I'll be able to get a laptop Wednesday so I can do the other 3 and code them in.

If anybody has the same leak back pipe connections as mine they circle bit around the injector should slide up but its a pita I broke the one on mine, so either buy 4 new one or change them to the style in wojciech post.
