Dismounting aerial base (Mk7 2012)

Postby mark123456 » Sun Aug 13, 2017 11:12 am

Hi, anyone got any advice on how to get behind the plastic wingmirror to unscrew the aerial base that is mounted from the inside on a 2012 Mk7 transit?

Cheers!

I always thought that the Transit aerials was mounted on the roof, and the cable goes down behind the N/S inner A pillar trim :?:

In the 3 round holes there should be a bolt or just a flat spot of snap head bolts where used , take them out mirror will come off and you can get to base of aerial

Thanks, i'll take another look.

All I could see bolt-wise was one at the front bottom corner that also appeared to be mounted from the inside out, but maybe I'm missing the obvious :)

The plastic trim the aerial is fixed to is fixed to the mirror arm.

The mirror arm is fixed to the van with 3 bolts, 2 of which have shear heads, to get them out you need to destroy the plastic trim the aerial is fixed to.

Is the aerial really broken? Or are you just fiddling?

If your just fiddling I'd leave it till you need s new mirror
