Possibly. In all honesty I am not sure. I rebuilt the van from 2 vans one had alarm one didn't. I don't know which box I've used LMAO.
Is there any easy way to check as if I remember rightly the box is right behind dash....
I have forscan etc but there is no mention of it in there

Try disconnecting the alarm and see if it stops

Surely if I disconnect that I can't use the Van? I thought it was all part of immobiliser etc

Blue one is in the van.

Orange is spare.

The blue unit has no alarm, the orange one does. The ford alarm DOESN'T sound the horn, it has a separate sounder. It sounds more like you have a problem with the wiring around the steering column / ignition switch as the key in / out of the lock doesn't have a switch on these vans, so if its quiet even with ignition completely off and only stars sounding when you pull the key out the hole, id start looking there for a pinched wire around the steering lock area.

That is awesome info thanks mate. I will start looking into it.
Any ideas where the alarm sounder is? I don't remember finding one when stripping the van. I think it would be good to put alarm on once the wiring is sorted

Don't know about Mk6, but Mk5 factory fit alarm has horn inside both front doors so they are probably the same.

I recon it's a wiring fault and the horn sounds when the key is removed as it's earthing itself through the steering lock when the pin pops in to lock the wheel in place.

May just be the horn push it's self.

Seems that way I've unplugged the squib for now till I sort it out.
New problem csm self test keeps coming back with rear cargo doors open. Van will lock and deadlock though so how does it think they are open?
