2008 Transit MK7 drivers side door lock

Postby Danbek1969 » Mon Aug 14, 2017 10:16 pm

Hey

I have a problem with my outside lock. It can only be used to lock the car not unlock it.
When I twist it towards locking it, it springs back into neutral position as normal.
When I twist it towards unlock, it stays there and it doesn't act as normal.

Is some kind of sensor that might be faulty or is the lock itself?
And do I have to take the window out to get to it?

Thanks for answers :)

Try a different key
Sounds like the key is worn

As above, the lock doesn't need to "read" the key to lock, any Tibbe key can be used to do this, but only the "correct" key will unlock it. So if the key is worn, you'll only have trouble unlocking :)

a client of mine had trouble when his battery went flat after a holiday, neither key would open the van, so the AA came out to him and got into it. Must ask him about his keys, its a 13 plate with low miles so they shouldnt be too worn

If battery is flat, then s bit more effort is required with key. Most people are too scared to be rough enough with the key

i did use what id consider more than enough force to turn it, even the AA guy tried plenty of times, i personally think the door lock may have been changed and the keys lost prior to his purchase

I used more force than I would see necessary. Is it hard to pick it all apart?
