Transit MK6 TDCi Injector Washers

Postby TransitAppa » Tue Aug 15, 2017 8:10 pm

Hi @ll,

first of all thanks for this great forum. I was learning a lot here just by reading. I own a preowned Transit MK6 TDCi 125 HP built in oct 2002. It had some issues like black smoke and powerloss. Under high load the engine turned off. I used forscan to get some more information and there was a problem with commonrail pressure. So I did a leak back test and it showed a very bad injector. I removed the old one and put in a new one with some guidence from the internet and also ford repair manuels. It all worked very well. Even recoding the mew injector to the ECU.

Now I cleaned the old injector and found that they put a second washer / heat shield on it (see images). So there is a pre installed copper washer on the old and the new injector. But the old injector was installed with a second one. When I looked at 7zap (https://ford.7zap.com/en/car/97/code.2r,1.8236,3.26676,5.26884,6.23843,9.36377,10.31868,11.4292,12.39889,13.9652,15.30758,16.28211,17.5782/2/1510/15083/65430/?vin=wf0pxxgbfp2r74304#2) it didn't look like they have a second one there. It also seems like this injector had already been changed one day because it has an CI2 code which I can't find on the label pasted on the motor. So... did I make a mistake by not putting a second washer onto the new injector? Or was the former second washer the mistake?

Thanks for your help,
Jelle

I think the extra one is a mistake. I had just the one copper washer on the Mk6 injectors I have removed and their replacements came with just one too

Injectors in Mk6 2,0/2,4 tdci engines must have steel washers - never ever copper.  One injector with one steel washer...

Delphi genuine steel washer has number 9001850B, size 7x14x1,6 mm. They are fit on for Delphi injectors: R00001ZM, R00101Z, R00201Z, R00202Z, R00301Z, R00401Z, R00402Z, R00403Z, R00501Z, R00502Z, R00504Z, B02601D 52382.

Ok... That's odd... The injector came in a sealed plastic bag in a original delphi carton. It was sold as new and I talked to the guy there and gave him my VIN and he said that this injector is exactly the one I need (http://www.ebay.de/itm/DELPHI-Injektor- ... 2749.l2649).

And it looked exactly like the old one but with only the copper washer.

Now I'm a bit confused... let's say very confused. :?

Yes, on picture are injectors with copper washers, but shown injectors are not R00001ZM, R00101Z, R00201Z, R00202Z, R00301Z, R00401Z, R00402Z, R00403Z, R00501Z, R00502Z, R00504Z, B02601D 52382.
On picture below is shown how is looking your Delphi injector - and it has correct steel washer... 8)

For Transit Mk7 2,2/2,4 tdci with Denso injectors washers are copper, but not for Mk6 with Delphi injectors...

Hi @ll,

sorry for bumping up this thread again but after asking here I also asked the guys at Diesel Technik Biberach here in germany. They are specialized in repairing Delphi and Bosch Injectors. They answered me that the copper washers are fine and even better than the steel ones and that I shouldn't worry. Seems that the new ones have copper washer and old ones came with steel washers. My new injector with copper washer is doing fine since I installed it. I wanted to post that information if someone stumbles over that question again. Sadly I forgot about posting this information back then  That's why I wanted to make good for it now.

To the archive with this and hope it helps some people when searching the forum.

Best wishes,
Jelle

Did you manage to get a part number for the copper washers ?
My 2.4 TDDi 125 bhp has steel washers on them when I removed them. Very difficult to find them when you need them.

Thanks Ned,
I did send for some of them but they were larger diameter than the originals that were on my injectors, bit confusing.
