Postby Thequeenscheese » Sun Aug 20, 2017 7:59 pm

I'm looking at retro fitting some dogs to my mk7 it's got the st/sport bits on but the original bumper has the blanks, I'm looking at fitting thesehttps://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371841837814 any tips how to, and which size I'd need etc?

Cheers..

Just measured the fog light hole in my spare bumper and it's just over 2.5"

You'll need to make some brackets of some sort to fit those lights though.

You also may already have the wiring for fog lights fitted

The proper brackets are about £15 per side from Ford

Or fit these http://www.ledcom.co.uk/drl_day_running ... sept_06_on they come with brackets. No foglight function but the MK7 foglights are bloody useless anyway.

There's some on eBay £9 a pair I've spotted.

@£52 this are a bit pricey for me I have to remember it's only a work van lol, and if I was going to be spending that amount I'd prob look at spot lights or a roof bar and go the whole hog..

I've had the Ledcom ones, they eventually let water in. Ledcom kit is good though as it comes with everything you need.
I've had the ones you were looking at above too, and they let water in.
Brackets you can make yourself out of sheet steel if your on a budget and have some tin snips and a vice to bend the metal in.
It's a good idea to seal whichever ones you buy with tiger seal before use and thats coming from someone who fitted more than 10 sets of lights in those fog light holes in 4 years.

I've never noticed water in my factory fog lights, maybe there's a hint there as to what to fit :?:

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

I think part of the problem is there are no wheels arch liners on a transit to stop water going on the lights.

They are standard on a Crafter you know :)

I'll bear that in mind maybe make a housing from some beakers or such, although £110 on a new battery has maybe put this on the back burner for a week or 2..

I fitted a pair of theses as DRLs,

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181915463523

just used a hole saw to drill out the blank, eased out the hole for a tight push fit and wired them into a fused ignition live under the dash.

That is pretty much my plan except I fancy the angel eyes type, with halo wired to sidelights or dipped lights and fogs on a separate switch possibly wired through main beam also depends how I feel..
