changing clutch hydraulics

Postby jonnyboy1958 » Sun Aug 20, 2017 9:40 pm

Anyone know if I can change the hydraulics on the clutch without removing the gearbox/clutch? I think the problem I have is down to these parts so I will replace them.

If only people would post their vehicle details in their signature, life would be so much simpler.

Imagine going to buy some spares for a 'MK6 Transit' without knowing the year/model.

Maybe a 'sticky' at the top would help giving instruction on how to do this ?

No need for apology, it just makes life easier for everyone including people who read later on, I also wish more people would add 'problem solved' to show that the advice given was correct - and worked.

The clutch shares the brake fluid reservoir.

I assume most garages don't flush this when they do a brake fluid service, so may be worth doing, though the Waynes manual suggests reverse flushing.

Thank you for your reply. I am beginning to think that the clutch plate may be contaminated as until warm when taking off the van judders considerably.

Mine has a judder on take off, again only when cold, I have had a new clutch so that was not the problem.
I have considered the hydraulics, should have done them at the same time.
Though I have a propshaft and rear diff to compound the list of possibilities.

I'm going to change the gearbox oil, and diff. oil to see if that helps I think after 15 years 'filled for life' may have expired.

My van is 16 years old so I will have to change the gearbox oil just to be on the safe side.
