Alloy Wheels and Insurance ??

Postby Marauder » Mon Aug 21, 2017 11:17 am

Thinking of getting a set of Alloy Wheels 15" for my 2008 2.2 swb .. Do you notify your Insurance company ? If you do buy and fit Alloys, Will it makes much difference to your insurance premium ??
Ford Transit 280 SWB,,Year 2008,,2.2,, If it can,t be fixed/repaired/ with a 4 pound lump hammer then it must be an electrical problem.

Definitely inform them and they will want to know if the wheels are load rated etc but shouldn't make much difference to premium's

The only reason I am interested in 15" Alloys is, Reading a few past posts on here some Guys have said if I moved away from the wheel size my van came with , It could alter my speedo readings etc.Do you think it would make much difference if I just went up one size of wheel to 16" ??

Its all about your tyres init
Speedos read under anyway so a bigger wheel/tyre will make it about right

you can have bigger wheels with lower profile tyres and it will still have the same rolling circumference. Google search tyre size calculator
