Inlet manifold cleaning

Postby Dazzy92 » Mon Aug 21, 2017 4:54 pm

Thought I'd clean the inlet manifold out whilst the front ends off the van, has anyone done the engine side of it? Also I'm guessing it isn't possible to get every bit out either?

Turn the engine so that the valve on the cylinder your doing are closed.
Try and remove muck by pulling it out of the inlets, an old toothbrush is good but clogs up quickly. Plastic teaspoons work as well.
At least you've got a fwd and have reasonable access.

I'll give that a try tomoz mate, was alot I took out the manifold to be fair but noticed the mess there and wanted to start cleaning but wasn't sure if I would've broken anything if stuff fell in or that.. bit of a silly question but the pipe that comes off the manifold.. where does it run to? Cause I've noticed they're also a bit yucky

I think you mean the pipe to the egr valve, it's the source of all the carbon which mixes with oil from the engine in the inlet to form the stick black mess.
