Just to report success programming a new key fob for my Mk7 transit 2007 using the following:
- new 3 button remote key fob from ebay, described as genuine Ford Transit 2006 -2014 £ 49.99 item No
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172855483395 - Bbfly ELM327 On Board Diagnostics reader described as: bbfly ELM327 USB modified FTDI chip OBD2 Forscan ELMconfig HS-CAN / MS-CAN OBD (item No
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222355527605 ) £14.77
- Forscan software downloaded free (big thumbs up from me) plus extended licence, also free.
- Computer with windows XP operating system and usb port.
Follow the guides on the Forscan forum carefully. You do not have to erase all keys to programme a new one using the current version of Forscan (2.3.11 beta). There is no 2 key limit.
The new 3 button key fob can be fitted to the original key in place of the original key fob. Prise off the blue part of the key and click the new one into place.
I spent some time playing with the Forscan software before starting the potentially disastrous process of reprogramming the Passive Anti Theft System (PATS) module. I ran my laptop off the mains in case the battery failed midway. The process did take me about 45mins. Would take about 10 mins having done it once.
Hope this is helpful.
