Mk7 flip key

Postby Thequeenscheese » Thu Sep 07, 2017 10:12 pm

I know peeps have said that a flip key isn't available for the mk7 but what's so special about the key that this won't fit?

The pics are of my exploded key..

That be a Mk7 key..!

Unless the key is badly worn or damaged my question would be...Why bother?

Looking at the pics of my spare key, where is the transponder located does anyone know? In my old navara when I did that one the transponder was a 4-5mm sq white thing there's nothing like that here or even that size is it incorporated to the pcb on these?

Looking at it again in daylight I'm 99.9% certain that the king bit on the left of the battery is the transponder as it doesn't look to be soldered in and looks of the same material that was covered in white plastic on my old navara, I can't see why a flip housing wouldn't work if the pcb fits inside the housing ok, and everything is close enough to the Ing to work.. So I've ordered one to test..

No that's got a key the same as yours the custom has a flip key
Daytime I have that mk7 key in one pocket and the custom key in the other and as soon as you start grubbing about a bit it presses the button and the flip one opens up

I believe the mk7 doesn't have a transponder as such but the circuit board effort is the immobiliser thingy.

My mk6 has a flip key, it doesn't flip out in my pocket or unlock my van in my pocket :D N
