you can get a leak off kit with the adapters, hoses and bottles for about £20 on ebay. Let me know if you want me to find a link to one. Had to get one a while back to check mine.

The frp has always been a wee bit iffy but never this drastic, I just git some live data and the injectors are demanding 20 something mg of fuel and running at 16.something bolts, fro is up to 9800kpa but the desired is 32500kpa or something.

Its definitely pump or injectors or just a massive air block. N

I did make one a while back with baby bottles and leak back pipes from a junkyard car then found my injectors had stupid clips on  N

What did you do to your mk6/7 today?

Postby Tango330 » Sun Sep 10, 2017 9:00 pm

Strewth N, this is turning into a right old saga, was keeping my fingers crossed for you but it obviously didn't work :(

Drove mine up to Swynnerton Friday night and back again this morning. Friday was a complete nightmare cause that tanker tipped acid or summat all over the road  Took me nearly 7 hours

Was going to see if I could help you out at some point, but they had me working till 11 on Friday, and midnight last night :? Was knackered when I got home tonight, but at least it only took me 4 and a bit coming back :)

I think that's going to turn into a very costly problem at a garage :(

I might have 3 spare injectors in about a week (may need them to help diagnose mine). They are from a mondeo but have had them in my van and they worked fine, might need a different seal for the case than the ones you've got though.

I need to weigh up the cost of lost business and the cost of the garage, before I do anything I'll go and talk to the garage, it'll keep the Mrs happy that way, I can off set any garage cost against my tax bill but I still have to find the cash first, I'm just puzzled how to get the fuel rail pressure back up. Ned my good man you need to diagnose the problem or spend money.

The pump needs to pump and the injectors need to hold fuel pressure until told to open.
Do they? (Does the pcm see low pressure and keep things turned off?)

Do ppl crack injectors on these 2.0l tdci? (Despite being dangerous etc) I've done it briefly on my 2.4 tdci but yes the pcm keeps them turned off until rail pressure up).

But if ppl have bleed through with this method on your van then in theory you don't need to worry about the injectors starting turned off in low pressure situation and that the imv will stay full on to allow the rail to pressurise, it'll just not fully happen or take longer (i propose that franken injectors will have to be fubar to not let any fuel through or opposite be pissing fuel without restriction-you'd probably see a fuel lock in that case tho wouldn't you?)

Next point is see what the mk6 135 2.4 tdci boys do, we know that injector problems that occur in then result in death, that it's probably due to dirt blocking the nozzles or whatever, and i know they are different system but the point is they usually end up in new injectors to fix them.

So.
Injectors-tested?
Fuel to rail-?
Fuel from pump and correct flow-pressure.

As the others suggested maybe you need someone who has the bits that can test it? Bearing in mind it all worked until the injectors got removed........

Is it done yet?
You're on your way to my house I'm it to pick the boot up?

Mr Loot my good man I ran forscan Saturday and the rail pressure was at 800kpa ran the forscan again yesterday after Mr Andz dragged me around and it was up to 9800kpa but still not high enough I believe it desires 325000kpa (don't know what kpa is) when the frp was at about 9800kpa the injectors started to demand 23.22mg of fuel, the imv was showing 75% just before the rail pressure rose so I think and I could be wrong its getting somewhere.

Been to the garage this morning and they said it'll be 45 sovs plus vat an hour if no go after 2 hours they will stop trying, he said it might be air lock in the hp side of the pump or the new leak back pipes.

What gets me is when I first Frankenstein the injectors it did run but no4 cylinder injector was pissing fuel out as the leak back pipe wasn't clipped in fully so my theory is that's how I lost all rail pressure.

I could be talking bollox as I'm high on diesel fumes and gloss fumes

I'm on my way  Strap the tailgate on my back  How far is it 40 miles I can walk that in 3 days

This forscans good inn it, watch this space it will run again, any one want some mondeo injectors  N

What did you do to your mk6/7 today?

Postby grogan197 » Mon Sep 11, 2017 12:05 pm

Ned, There is a ton of information and troubleshooting for the fuel system from ford here http://workshop-manuals.com/ford/transit_2000.5_01.2000-05.2006/mechanical_repairs/3_powertrain/303_engine/303-04f_fuel_charging_and_controls_2.0l_duratorq-tdci_(puma)_diesel/description_and_operation/diagnosis_and_testing/fuel_charging_and_controls/

Also I just had a look on FORScan to get the readings when cranking. Timings could be slightly out as it looks at each PID in order so some things that appear to be happening milliseconds apart may actually be happening simultaneously. This is what I get:
With ignition on
FRP: 800 kpa
FRP Desired: 31800 kpa
1.71 seconds: When I turn the key to start the INJ4 starts demanding fuel (6.6mg). Rail pressure goes up to 4200kpa, desired frp stays the same.
2.13 seconds: Rail pressure now quickly builds as does inj4 demand. Inj4 demand gets up to 17mg and FRP to 17700, at this point inj1 demand starts to rise
2.27 seconds: Fuel demand for inj1 and 4 continue to rise and FRP gets to 26000kpa. inj3 now starts demanding fuel
2.40 seconds: Engine revs build to 200rpm, FRP slightly exceeds desired at 32900kpa. inj4 demand peaks at around 25mg.
2.83 seconds: Engine revs at 633, FRP has dropped slightly to 29400. inj2 now starts to demand fuel. Demand for INJ 1, 2 & 3 all at over 20mg
3.16 seconds: Engine is running at 874 rpm. Desired FRP has dropped to 30000kpa and actual is at 27500. Fuel demand has dropped to between 10-20mg
3.75 seconds: Rpm stays about the same. FRP actual and desired fall to around 25000kpa. INJ demand drops to single figures
6 seconds: rpm drops down to around 800. FRP actual and desired come to rest at 23100kpa. Inj demand between 4-7mg

Whenever I have removed my injectors I have had the union left untightened to bleed it through. Always starts fne after doing it that way and the fuel only dribbles around the union.
