What's my official payload ? ( B Post Plate Image Shown )

Postby vinyltranny » Tue Sep 19, 2017 8:04 pm

Hi all,

I know plylyning / bulkheads, fuel, driver weight etc all count, but just for facts, looking at my tech spec plate on the B post, whats the payload for my van ?

3500 kegs - the weight of everything you put in the van driver /passenger tool and also snap box :D
4500 kgs is for pulling a trailer max combined weight
1750 kgs is front axle load weight
2250 kgs is rear axle load weight

Sorry, not according to Ford's service manual information from etis.

3500 kgs is the maximum weight of the van and anything in it. Gross Vehicle Mass
4500 kgs is the maximum weight of the van, anything in it and anything it's towing. Gross Train Weight

Maximum axle weights are correct.

Edit:
You van is Frozen White in colour.
It has a double passenger seat.
The seats are cloth covered.
Your interior trim colour is Lichen.

Please read carefully gentlemen. This time I've stressed the "and" even more.

Dumper, you wrote "everything you put in the van"

The top line on the rating plate is van and contents, not just what you put in it. That's about 1500 kgs difference for a fwd 280 van.

Sorry for being pedantic.

I often write something then proof read what I intended to write rather than what I really wrote. Unfortunately, that's no defence against the law.

Fair enough champion....but I do believe that's what he originally "meant"... and how I read it..!  No harm done..I can be a bit pedantic myself

To find out the payload, take van to a weigh bridge as it usually runs, and get it weighed with you and the dog, lunch box etc in the van.

Deduct the weight of the van from the 3500kg figure to get your payload

You'll get an answer around 1600kg

My ex Royal Mail says 850kg max on inside of rear door and the van is a shell really other than what I've added, is that just rm being safe or would that be its max load? I've only got single leaf springs which I'd like to update as I'd like to be able to get a 1tonne bag in the back..

As mentioned above, get it weighed, then you will know for sure.

I've just finished my camper conversion so got it weighed a couple of weeks ago at my local council recycling centre - cost me a fiver to get weighed.

When I weighed it it had all the furniture in it, but no water, food, clothes etc. and only a quarter full tank of diesel.

Log book weight (mass in service) 1733kg, actual weight with me in it 2080kg. As it's a T300 I've got 900kg spare weight capacity to play with.

Even with full diesel and water tanks and all the food, clothes and equipment, and not forgetting the wife, I'm not going to get anywhere near my weight limit.
