Engine swap. PHFA > H9FA

Postby s2_bo » Tue Sep 19, 2017 8:29 pm

I'm retiring my mk6 RWD 2.4 transit which has the H9FA engine.
The engine is still good and there is a pisisablitly to pick up a mk7 that needs a new engine so I was going to see if my mk6 engine could be used.

The mk7 has a broken PHFA engine, can I take it out and fit my H9FA engine?

Many thanks.

Not without a few modifications...Although the Mk6 H9FA engine is the 2.4 135ps TDCi...the Mk7 will have a "Denso" fuel system... the Mk6 2.4 TDCi has a "Delphi" system ...completely different fuel systems....but stranger things have been done..

Great thanks.
I'll see what can be done but it sounds like it's not as plug and play as I had hoped so maybe it's best to just buy a correct replacement engine.
Many thanks.

Yes...that would be much easier.

May I ask what has happened to your original engine?? Sometimes it's worth repairing the original rather than replacing with an unknown condition unit.
