Postby scotty dog » Tue Sep 19, 2017 10:35 pm

Help after struggling to remove the tibbe barrel from a 2010 transit could not get it to turn it finally fell out. The problem is how do you get the hykee barrel to turn it is a lot tighter than the ford lock

You did take the "C" clip off the back of the lock first didn't you?

Mine came out really easy, and the new one went in easy too, so I'm not sure what's going on there with yours - has the door got any dents or damage around the lock? That might cause some fouling.

Smear it with some vaseline, that might help.

Yes c clip off the barrel is very stiff to turn recon it would damage the key if was used to turn barrel. door is perfect

Made a tool just like a stronger c clip with a lever on it ,discovered the pin was not fully retracting had to really twist the key. After a few goes it came out. Tried the Hykee barrel in smeared the inside with Vaseline (who the bloody hell suggest Vaseline) it turn but the pin would not spring out,out it came and took a few measurements discovered the ford pin was 6mm and the Hykee was half a mm thicker out with the grinder and ground a flat in the hykee pin.By this time it was either going on the van or in the bin it was very stiff to turn had to but a pliers on to the key to turn it fully Success after don`t know how many hours
