I thought the same thing, which is why I always put half a litre in from the low mark.
I don't like to overfill, and it doesn't need to be full.

This is unecessary because even if it did create a vacuum, the oil level in the tube would only rise by the same distance you have moved the dipstick and not alter the measurement.
