My own issue is, fitted new radio which required me to revers bcm and perm live in iso harness, which made the clock always override the miles left in the tank ( I'd prefer to have that as the standard option, but I'd accept its not possible, the after trying to reset the time on the dash clock I now get a --:-- and cannot do anything with it, the miles left still work if I press the button as does Millage and trip.
So any idea what occurs and if it can be reigned?

I may be wrong here, so don't quote me, but I think that the clock can only be changed with ignition on and engine not running. It may be that a dying front battery (if you have two!) may stop this happening too

Displaying the 4 dashes is usually either a failing battery, corroded blue/red cable at under bonnet fuseboard under the jump point, dodgy earth or faulty clocks.
If you’ve f***ed about with the stereo wiring it may also have effected it.
As I said in a previous thread, by fitting euro5 clocks the menu will default back to the displayed option you left it at when switching off.
I.e switch off the ign when miles left Is displayed, then that’s what will be there when you switch back on.

id say the clocks are faulty mate
loot is the tech man one these mrk 7 vans or punto
Thequeenscheese wrote:Bit of an update, I've now noticed today the mpg estimated sometimes stays on, on next start up and sometimes reverts to,the --:-- where the clock should be?, I think it seems to be length of time it's been stood.
Now something weird also washed the van, called at a shop got back to the van and it wouldn't unlock I had to press lock then unlock to unlock the van, at this point tho the aftermarket radio lost its time and took a few minutes extra to auto turn on, now I did lock from a bit further away than normal and maybe it acted like they can when the battery is low and only half locking the door?, but why would that affect the radios clock maybe this is just a coincidence I'm not sure, thoughts?
Cheers John.
