Tie rod ends

Postby Ray Austin » Sun Oct 15, 2017 9:14 pm

We had our MOT last January and one of the advisory for some slight play in the tie rod ends in the steering rack. Can get hold of new ones but what is the procedure to replace them as I cant seem to get much info on them. Our Haynes does not mention replacing them. Is it better just to replace the whole steering rack. If we were to replace them I take it the gaiter on the rack have to be taken off and then refitted later is the rack full of oil does that oil need to be replaced or is it the same oil that is in the PAS reservoirs. One of the tyres is going on the edges so would like to fix the play in the rack before replacing the tyres.

Its a 2005 2.4 lwb rwd.

Thanks guys.

You'll need tracking done after though....otherwise your tyres will suffer.

I'm surprised BJT didn't ask what you were wearing.!!
