Mk 6 Key Fobs?

Postby yorick » Mon Oct 16, 2017 10:24 pm

I have 2005 Jumbo XLWB camper

My key fob is playing up and won't unlock side door and rear door sometimes. Do the batteries fail on these ? It's at least 6 years old.

It maybe the fob itself, but if not, it won't hurt to have a spare one anyway.

I've seen the instructions where key is recycled 8 times in the ignition, and seems straight forward.

Now I've been looking on Ebay and there's a huge range of prices. Any recommendations on good ones or bad ones ?

Thanks in advance :)

Well a Jaguar X-Type (X400 Line) is essentially a "dressed up" FORD Mondeo mk3

but is it possible to order those keys with a "blank" transponder so it can be keyed in by either the dealer or yourself with software and the new blank blade cut?
i know you can get blanks with and without transponder from our chinese friends.
my problem is that i have only one key right now and i will rather light the van on fire then spend 180 euro on a dealer made key with transponder and program it in by them and another 80 for a new fob and program.
id rather spend 200 on ebay and special software then carry my money to the stealer basically on principle.

Ford dealership never supplied flip key fobs for mk6's.

New standard Ford key for mk6 & cut but not programmed to van is £27 (Retail) from my local dealer.
Don't know about a new Jaguar one. Although I would have though you'll need very deep pockets

But then a used one. New blade can be easily obtained. Then programmed to vehicle (PAT's) via some one with IDS or "other" suitable device.
Programming for central locking is FREE - see here  viewtopic.php?f=54&t=180788

It really isn't that difficult to remove the transponder from your key and fit it in the jag key, I managed to do it without breaking anything   N

i have keys like these
https://www.burghlocksmiths.co.uk/car-k ... ement-key/

the important zapper/chip bit can be acquired from a focus / fiesta etc... the blank blade bit is cheap as chips as it has no cippy bits :) It still needs the immobilizer chip programmed but the door locking bit you can do yourself.

The focus/fiesta keys changed chips somewhere along the line but if you open the fob and it has a round glass tube type chip it'll work...if its a square black plastic looking thing it wont :)

I got one of these flip keys for my MK6, cost £12 and got it cut for £3 at a local locksmith and programmed it to the van with ForScan. It works great. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3-Buttons-Flip-Remote-Key-Fob-With-Chip-4D60-For-Ford-Focus-Mk1-Mondeo-Transit-Connect/32694746911.html?
