Gear cables popping off the stub peg

Postby toby2313 » Thu Oct 19, 2017 6:06 pm

Evening all.
Firstly I'm not trying to sell anything but have found a supplier that supplies a repair bush and clip instead of replacing the gear selector cables.
I had mine pop off from the gear box last week whilst in a drive through. No gears at all had to push it out.
As you can see In the pictures I cable tied it to get the van home. Received the clip and bush today and had it fitted in under 5 mins.
Great clip to have to get you out of trouble. Cost me £20 plus p+p ImageImageImageImage

Good call...could save a lot of grief when traveling away from home....

Yours is obviously a RWD, do you know if the same thing will fit the FWD's..??

Hi knobby1
The gentlemen does these for all different makes and models.
Google gear cable clips.
Saved me a lot of messing about and buying new cables. Easy to install too.
Just a screw driver and pliers.

Contacted this company today (shut on Saturday unfortunately), as I`ve replaced both cables and still had the reverse cable come away this morning.
The nipple/ball it clips onto is evidently too worn for the socket to grip properly.
Hopefully these clamps will solve the problem.

i had my garage replace the entire arm , it cost about £140 all in , they wanted to just replace the cables but it was cheaper for the arm , no problems since

When you say “push” it out, is that to say there is another hole somewhere on the other side? I only see the one hole where the external cable was pulled out from. I would imagine there is another hole on the other side of the shifter that I will feed the new gear cable through but I’m not familiar with this stuff
