Pump learn help

Postby mjsroofing » Fri Oct 20, 2017 5:22 pm

The fuel temperature is too high and does not want to cool down, any ideas.

Best doing it from cold I’ve found,

I waited for 1/2 hour before to let the fuel cool, takes ages!

Rev it up would cool it i find :-) sometimes Rev high so the other bars are red and the fuel temp drops.

I think knobby got an airline on his rail to cool it down once but that was in 100 degree heat in oz :-)

Try again in the morning.

Also, do it with a fairly full fuel tank. More fuel to soak up the heat.

Thanks guys, managed to get temp down by pouring water over fuel filter, however the learn failed twice and then we gave up.
01 code fail.

Could that be because fuel was still warm.

OK here's the story,

Lee bought a van, two days later it started idle up and down and cutting out etc.
A transit specialist said its the pump, so changed pump to no avail.
Changed prv and drive awesome , this was in Wednesday I think, now it running rough again.

Done pilot learn Ok, but pump learn failed.

I think the pump learn failed because the idle is up and down, in and out of the red.

Could I hold the revs slightly to get it to learn.??

Non genuine fuel filter fitted if that makes a difference.

Needs new genuine filter and check the prv probably blown because it needs a scv on the fuel pump, need both genuine valves then learns and clear counters x2 consider doing a pcm update but must be online, can tether phone to laptop for this.

No holding revs as the vcm will see throttle pedal values wrong plus you don't want to be cheating. :-)

If you on ids it is further down the list of functions from the pump and injector learns.

Thanks,

Will clearing the counters first help compete the pump learn.

I do the following.

Clear dtcs
Clear the counters - but they should be zero unless one of the valves has failed.
Pump learn
Injector learn
