MK7 2011, Pulling out my Engine ***AMA***

Postby nznikin » Mon Oct 23, 2017 8:24 am

Pulling out my engine in my 2011 2.4 Duratorq DI. Thought this would be a good opportunity for anyone if they had any questions or wanted any photos. Cheers. Engine removal virgin so ill try and ask as many questions as I can.
Also for curiosity... Rust... Lots of rust.

Welcome to the forum :D

2011 Transit mk7's don't have 2.4 Duratorq DI engines fitted. Although 2000-2006 Transit mk6's do

I'd love to see some pics. I'm no where near the level of confidence to attempt this myself but I'm very curious.
Here's a informative look at Decaduro and how it works.

No worries. I'm a mechanical engineer by trade so its not too far afield from what i'm used to.
Ill be documenting the entire process on a word press I created, check that out if you want in depth, mind you it will take a while to compile all the info into the site. Over here---> https://kiwivandiaries.wordpress.com/

Ill also post some photos here as well.

UPDATE...

Engine is now out. relatively easy process if I might say. Especially for a first timer. Took 2.5hours from fully disconnected state. Had the help of one other person so with the two of us was easy, although the more the better I'm guessing. Below are some picks of the day. Let me know if you want an extra details. Engine will be out for a bit while the engine bay is coated/engine to looked over.
