transit mk 6 cutting out after 10 mins or at normal temp

Postby dovey » Tue Nov 14, 2017 10:22 am

i have a 2003 transit t280, had a new fuel pump earlier in the year, then last week injectors replaced, its run perfect for the last 6 days but i noticed the garage hadnt put the ecu cover back on as it had been tested so called in last night they removed battery then took coild off and put the cover back on, just used this morn and its run for 10 mins got to temp and cut out 3 times, could this be because the battery and coild was removed, thanks in advance

If a post isn't replied too it soon drops a few pages. When my coolant pipe rotted away i lost coolant and the engine cut when it was hot , once it was cooler it ran again until hot and cut out. Is the led next to the clock flashing when it's running

Hi, it runs bang on for at least the 10 mins then it flashes then cuts out, after a couple of mins it starts and runs again but temp never goes highit stays perfect, its had crank sensor, injectors, pump and and filter, it shows codes for the pump but its brand new not recon, garage has said it could be ghost codes and they think the ecu is on its way, it starts on half a turn every morning and the engine purrs tbh its just this bleeding cut out, i thought it maybe a common symptom but nobody seems to know :(

Either way he needs codes read....he mentioned his light flashing...something's amiss..!

im sorry the flashing is the tool light for limp mode, the codes that were coming up was for the pump and injectors, but these have been replaced, its in the garage as we speak, they think the ecu is corrupted as it ran for a week perfect then the coil wire was unplugged by them whilst the battery was disconnected to put the ecu cover back on, then it started with the same old codes and cutting out again :( do you guys think it could be ecu failure?
im at a loss and sadly dont have the codes now with it been in the garage, if it wasnt for the van been in such good condition and only done 90k i would have scrapped it but it seems such a shame, thanks in advance

I'd be testing the wiring as I think the ecu isn't common to fail here's the link how to test the wiring viewtopic.php?f=18&t=124587

Yep mine had a few tiny breaks in the wire around the starter motor area, took me 7 1/2 hours to find and fix. N

Mines a tdci so it was constantly in limp mode  New set of injectors fitted and programmed and the bugger wouldn't idle and kept throwing up a pump and throttle fault, after fixing the wires it runs like a dream, apart from the spring it wrapped last night.

Here's the fun I had. N
