Need a wiring diagram to please?

Postby Jamber2166 » Tue Nov 14, 2017 5:42 pm

I know it's a common problem with these vans; my brake wear indicator light s on. The pads are fine and the wiring is good on the calipers, but there's obviously a break somewhere. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this circuit? I'm not interested in shorting the cluster pins, I'd rather fix it.

Thanks.

Best option would be get under the van and follow the cable from the pad sensors, I did it this way and it didn't take long to find the break (mine was along the back axle)

What voltage is in the circuit when it's open?

Edit: If it is a mk7

The brake wear warning is a single wire loop from the instrument cluster through the two monitored pads to earth.

It goes to the rear then the front.

At the front connector the black and grey wire goes to earth.

At the rear connector the brown and blue wire goes to the front pad.
The blue and green wire comes from the instrument cluster.

The mk6 year 2000 that I have does not have brake pad/shoe warning - there's no wires to the brakes.

What vehicle do you have?
Ford Transit, 3.5, Mk6, 2.4 (90PS) 88.76 HP 66.19 KW Duratorq DI diesel, 2000 Luton back, Tail lift, MWB, DRWD.

That's what I was thinking. The circuit appears to work on a short circuit principle, as there's clearly a logic circuit involved in that it also stores a fault code; once the circuit is open the cluster module sees elevated voltage. I knew it loops from back to front. There's only two monitored pads as you say, both on the near side. I've had a look at the wiring from the front to back (apart from where the fuel tank is) and can't see anything obvious.

Could you send me the diagram? It would would make more sense if I could see how the circuit works. That would be appreciated.

Diagram on it's way.

Wire around the pads is an earth of a logic circuit in the instrument cluster, if the wire is not broken then the instrument cluster probably is. :?

Yeah, that makes sense, Dave. I see that on the diagram. I'm getting a pulsing voltage at the calipers between 0 - 1.5v suggesting a bad earth, or a bad cluster. I'd have expected to see high voltage if the wire was broken. I'll ohm out the loop and take it from there.

Thanks for the diagram. :-))

I'm having the same problem 2009 2.4 AWD . BUT only has one wear sensor on nearside front pads ( drums on rear ) here is NO cable at all to the drivers side front pads , they were only half worn when the light came on but I changed them anyway , light still on ?isn't there some procedure for turnig it off like pressing the brake and accelerator etc some as turning off the Oil change light ??

If it's a Mk7 it should have discs on the rear...unless it's been swapped out for a Mk6 axle.

No there is not.

You either have a wiring fault or the dash is faulty.

Hi guys sorry to hi-jack into this, I'm looking for wiring diagrams too, I can't program the steering angle sensor to the abs pump. Need to figure if it has a break, I've managed to get continuity to the bcm but struggling to find wiring from there onwards. Thought possibly you guys may be able to help MK7 125ps rwd euro 5. Where can I get the info Im after? Thank you

Steering angle sensor is calibrated in IDS or other non ford programming system.
It and the yaw rate sensor are both canbus devices.
You might be able to get raw vaules from them, I've never tried.

Both have to be powered when the ignition is on, which is a yellow wire with a violet strip feeding from fuse 20 in the engine bay.
Canbus high is blue with a white strip.
Canbus low is green with an orange strip.
Earths are black with strips, either violet or yellow.
