I'm stumped??

Postby AnnoyingYellowTwat » Thu Nov 16, 2017 9:05 pm

Hey guys, I was hoping someone could shed a little light on a slight issue I've been having.
So, I got a 2007 ford transit mk7 2.2 diesel ex AA panel van with over 220k on the clocks!!
I just went out to the van, and the doors wouldn't unlock with the remote. I used the key then put it in the ignition and nothing happened. I thought great. Flat battery. Just what I need.
So I took they keys out the ignition and all the lights came on the dash, with the keys out?! I repeat, keys in. Nothing. Keys out. Lights. But can't start the van. So I took the battery out to test it and it's fine. Now it's back in, nothing works? I mean, this is really bizarre. The interior light won't come on, if I switch the head lights on its lights up some lights on the dash but not the headlights? All the fuses are there. It all seems fine but I'm just stumped.
It's now to dark to poke around so I'm hoping someone may have an answer?
Cheers

I was wondering the same thing. Ex-AA should be a RWD which should have two batteries :?

Bad earth ?

Seems unlikely but maybe sitting in the drivers seat and the location of the battery earth under one of the driver seat pedestal bolts :?
mk7 08reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD
mk6 X reg 2.4 T350 LWB MHR RWD - scrapped
mk4 J reg 2.5 L300 LWB MHR RWD - sold on

Notice a trend there ? not too big and not too small

It's an unsightly thing too with a wire coming out the side of the seat box

Main earth is beside the battery box, bolted to the floor, you'll see it as you open the door...there's many more up behind the dash and in the engine bay too. If you have two batteries, they'll both be under the drivers seat.

Fully charged using a multimeter means nothing, it needs to be properly "load tested".
