Dash cams

Postby Thequeenscheese » Sun Nov 19, 2017 11:04 am

Looking at dash cams, who's got what?, I'd like one that stay on when parked ( well motion sensor at least) and maybe hard wired not 12v socket.. what are your opinion on what you have and prices?

Cheers..

I have these fitted in my van and I fitted them in her car too

https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/27Pcs-4CH-Car- ... 2568848321

They work well and you can wire them into your obd port as well so you can get over speed warning if other people drive your van you just need to get a 128gb sd card as well and about a day to fit them and if you don’t already have a stereo with a screen and aux video in you would need a screen which cost me about £8

I have tried various. This is £12 cheap but it works. Fitted it in the summer to my bulkhead and it has been on non stop. Permenant 12v supply – fit and forget. Leave it recording night and day. When ever Ive needed to refer to it its been fine. Records what happening just dandy. Top tip – there are different grades of memory card. Pick the best (highest speed for video) – class 10 if I remember. It loop records giving me the last hour.

Top tip which ever one you get make sure it has proper night vision, mine said it has but its crap at night and uses the vans headlight for night vision which is crap and mostly dark. I have mine wired to a switch so I can turn if off when its not required, it came in very handy a few months ago she one of my neighbours children shot across infront of me and crashed into a lamppost on her bike, I could prove to the parent that I didn't hit her. If you buy one of these it will wipe out your dab reception and interfere with your head unit screen.

I have one here I've just removed from my van after going the to trouble of replacing the dab antenna because I thought I'd damaged it while fitting the camera. Upon cutting power to the cam everything worked again. Had to fight for a refund through ebay too. Lots of hassle.

In all honesty it wasnt a bad camera, the video was nice and sharp and the vision at night not bad even though it used the van headlights to see but cheap chinese stuff isnt subject to the stringent product testing we have in the UK, in short it isnt always best.

I'm looking at a nextbase 412, the lad that loads up next to me in a morning has one and I've had a good look at it,they seem to be the best around.

Do any of them connect to wifi, like my home wifi then dump on to a hdd to catch any pesky tea leafs etc? That would be a preferred option

Honest review site.
I run the DDpai camera. small and discreet. Really pleased with it.

Looks good that one that may be a contender, I'm things of mounting on the bulkhead somewhere that would look discrete there.
