backfiring, high & low idle...

Postby transitrob89 » Sun Nov 19, 2017 7:57 pm

Hi,

I have an issue with my transit mk6 2.3 petrol/lpg 2004.

The van was high revving when I bought it, 1500-2000rpm at idle and rarely idled around 1000-1200. The van now either revs high on idles as explained or more commonly in the past week idles 800-1000rpm or lower to the point of it stalling. I've had a look for anything obvious under the bonnet, loose vac pipe, or induction leak and also have tried disconnecting the MAF and lambda sensor with neither making any difference.

I'm hoping someone with more knowledge then me can give me any advice.

Thanks!

I've done some more research & a lot of threads mention the PRV & SCV, does this apply to me?

The van is stalling quite a lot now which is a pain in the a*#e!

Update on this, should anyone stumble across it with the same issue. Read the ECU which is pointing towards the MAF. New genuine MAF ordered at a price of £215!! Will find out tomorrow if it's fixed!

We find that MAF's, (whether it be petrol or diesel), rarely fail, so it will indeed be interesting to see if this fixes your issue.

It was the MAF, the van is running well now :D .. sometimes the idle fluctuates 900-1000rpm on idle but other than that it is pretty much spot on!
