Noise from gearbox goes away when clutch depressed

Postby Morwellham » Sun Nov 19, 2017 8:36 pm

Hi All,

I am looking at a 2010 Transit 350 AWD and it has a gearbox rattle when the clutch is up. Press the clutch pedal and it goes away, thinking it maybe the release bearing or the gearbox idle shaft. Any ideas??.

Naturally, I am concerned about a idle shaft issue.

Also, any pointers as to what are the things to look for on a AWD transit.

Thanks in advance.

Usually a thrust bearing. When is under pressure, no noise.

This, or maybe pressure plate, either way box off so may as well swap clutch, bearing, plate the lot..

I think he has an "AWD" 6 speed machine....they "should" be dual mass from the factory....but there is an option for single mass in the parts list.
