mk6 -How long it takes to change AC/power steering belt?

Postby FordDriver » Tue Nov 21, 2017 12:20 am

Hi. My van is making squeaking/whine sound and im targeted that the voice is coming from front ( ) after first 5+ miles. I think it is AC/power steering belt because it has some cracks in it and it is original. 121 000km on the clock now. Water pump belt changed about 1 year ago and it looks fine.

VAN: 2005 2.0 TDDI 100ps Transit with AC.

Anyone know how big job it is in hours? Im gonna let dealer change it because it is in pretty hard place, maybe they know better how to do it fast. Last time when i visited with them they wanted 108€/h and im not millionaire so.. :D And i dont know how to repair it myself so better to let someone else do it.. I think there is some "instruction/repair time worksheet" but main dealer worker didnt tell it to me.. Does it take more than 1h, 2h or 3h with professional garage tools&equipment? I dont want them to steal me with saying "it was 2 days job blablablabla and it takes 2000€",, last summer when dealer changed starter motor to this van i had to pay 528€ and ford web site told me it its 338€ with parts&work.. daamn those stealers

If it was RWD 5 mins not done aFWD a bit longer as I think you have to stretch it on with a tool that comes with the belt it may be a job that Halfords may do it or any independent garage
