Crank pulley

Postby Cal1990 » Sun Dec 03, 2017 6:07 pm

I’ve a hell of a squeeking on my 2012 transit. The crank pulley rubber bung is badly perished looking at it, my question is..... earlier mk7 transit had a solid crank pulley with no massive rubber bung... is this exact same dimensions width etc as later mk7 as I’m thinking this would work in the meantime till I get some cash together to get a ford one

Ours was squeezing badly for a while and couldn't see anything and suspected the pully but the belt what itself a couple weeks later.
Cleared it all our fitted new belt and tensioner an it's been quiet and fine ever since 3+ years ago.

Nope..."ALL" diesel M7's have 3 piece pulleys...a steel inner and outer with a vulcanized rubber damper insert....unless an "aftermarket" item has been fitted.

same here

if one breaks up i just put a solid one on them, it make no difference to engine performance

i have bout 5 in stock (second-hand though) but every time a call out to a knocking crank pulley for a massive company in Manchester i always put a second hand solid crank pulley on them :D :D :D

What sort of squeak gives a failing pulley away? As I've got a intermittant/irregular one at idle.

Was a very high pitched squeek got worse faster I went. Take both belts off and spin all pulleys and listen but if you have a rubber mounted crank pulley id put my money on the rubber perishing away
