2011 2.4 rwd. Rough idle and starting problems.

Postby Rhyseve » Tue Dec 05, 2017 8:43 pm

Hi guys, really hoping someone can help.

My 2011 2.4 115hp rwd tranny has a few problems. It started with intermittent rough idling, well surging. Usually when it's warm but not all the time and sometimes when you release the clutch it surges slightly.

Since then it's developed starting problems, again when warm. It starts and cuts out immediately, can take anywhere between 2 to 7 attempts to fire up and run.

I've put it on a normal garage diagnostics but no faults.

I've heard about prv problems? Do you think it might be this and are these faults linked?

Anyhelp would be appreciated as you know what it's like. If the vans not running you can't work

Cheers guys!

where in the country are you

first thing i would do is check the valve on the back of the fuel rail to see if its still in 1 piece

Hi, thanks for the replies guys.

I'm in South Wales nr Cardiff.
My father's a fitter, he's been away bit the other guys put it on there diagnostics and no faults.
So looks like a trip to Ford's to have them check it out, anyone know if the local garages can read the ids or is it def ford?

Cheers

You don't have to have IDS any good snapon, delphi ect will do what you need  As Dodgy says check the prv on the end of the rail (the one with the pipe on it ) is in one piece .If its ok try and do the pump and injector learns with the computer before pulling at other bits :)
On the sixth day God created a Sprinter on the seventh he gave it away and bought a TRANSIT
