Mk 7 FWD Gearbox removal question.

Postby RacinRob » Sun Dec 10, 2017 6:13 pm

Just a quick question.
Thought I would pull the gearbox today to get at the leaking flywheel oil seal.
All looks ready to go but in the few minutes I had before running out of light the thing didn't appear to want to shift.
I can only count 9 bolts on the clutch bell housing that require removing - is this the correct number and if so - where's the best place to pry the box from the engine?
Cheers

remove the sensor at the top of the flywheel or you will prob damage it

there are a couple hidden behind the back of the bell housing by the drive shaft that often catch people out

I had a look at a couple gearboxes for sale and it appears from what I can see - there are indeed 9 bolts holding the gearbox on.
So I can assume it's only magic dust holding the box on and a bit more of an effort is required!
