Hello all,
A little over a year ago I brought a 59reg Transit 85 T260M for £4500. Since then I have spent a little under £6000 on the engine.
Looking at other threads the problem seems to be a common one, when starting the engine after it has been sat for a while clouds of white smoke (which according to the garage mechanic smells of diesel) come out of the exhaust. Only thing is I seem to have had the work done to sort this problem out. Below is a list of what I have had done, all at the same garage -
Full service - 07/16
Turbocharger replaced - 12/16
Two new injectors and injector seals and rocker cover gasket replaced - 02/17
Engine flush and oil replaced with 5w30 fully synthetic low saps oil - 03/17
Full service, four new glow plugs, head out and replaced gasket and timing chain - 09/17
New battery and water pump replaced, two new injectors - returned to garage following week as problem unresolved, two new injectors replaced under warranty - 11/17
The garage are now saying they don’t know what the problem is despite the fact it is still happening and seems to be getting worse, more smoke is now being produced and it doesn’t need to be sat for very long before it happens. The van appears to me to drive very well once going. Any and all ideas welcome!
Any clue as to the problem? Should I carry on spending money on it? Is it worth it or should I cut my losses? What will happen if I just carry on driving it? Have I been taken for a ride by the garage?
Many thanks
Dan
