Transit MK6 Over Heating

Postby Squirell2212 » Mon Dec 11, 2017 2:04 am

Looking for some advice , was traveling on the motorway tonight and the temp went into red and van stared to die but didn't cut out , I went into the hard shoulder and dropped the gears but the van picked up again and drove fine it done this for a good 4/5 miles - newbridge junction to Livingston for the ones who live local , I came of the motorway and onto safer roads but the van seems ok, I headed to my parents who are close for safety without recovery and left the van idling in the drive for 10 mins then continued another 5/6 miles home with no issues ,

Could this be a break down of the CHT Sensor ? The vans Serviced regularly and always check all the fluids every week everything's healthy , the van is never off the top of the road at the moment I don't blame if for giving in , but the good old mk6 got me home as usual

FWD's are known for throwing/wearing out the water pump drive splines...might pay to check there first.

Did the heater go cold at the same time it would point to the pump not turning

Heater never went cold , stayed around half way then back to hot but once changing down gears it was ok again , EML never flashed once
