Wheel bearings and brakes time

Postby allen » Mon Dec 11, 2017 10:43 am

Guess this has been asked a load of times before

Are they easy to do at home?

I have no problem with the discs and pads
Any help would be appreciated

FWD or RWD?

This is for RWD, handy vid to watch in order to gauge if you want to have a go, and he tells you what tools you need. :)

Edit. Just seen your ok with discs, Not sure on the bearings, I'm sure they're doable at home.

Once the hub bearing thing comes out your laughing with balls out
Cut the old bearing off with the 9 inch angle grinder
Then smash the new one on with a sledgei and the old inner race and a bit of wood
There's some ladies that use a press for that bit

You'll need some long T45 or T50 torx sockets to undo the bearing nuts, you access them through the holes in the hub, don't get them mistaken for the brake disc nuts, Mr Airthies says to put some long bolts through the holes where the T50 bolts were then put the wheel back on and as you tighten the wheel nuts it pulls the bearing out the knuckle.
