tdci rattle

Postby the dutch guy » Mon Dec 11, 2017 4:02 pm

I have been getting the idle rattle wich is starting to get REALLY annoying.
the alternator belt has also pretty much had it (it slips a bit and the alternator light refuses to go out for 20 sec or so after starting sometimes) so i am deciding to replace the whole lot. (belt and chain)
considering i have no maintanance information after 150k of the van (now on 310k) i recon nothing is done for the past decade.

but for this to be economical and reliable i need you guys and your ebay skills. fitting is no problem but i refuse to spend 1000 european roupies at the stealership in parts alone.

questions:
what original parts do i need from the ford stealership and what parts can i get from ebay?
i see whole timing chain kits on sale but are those any good?
i also need a new pulley and tensioner for the belt drive. are they all the same for the duratorq? on the spare parts sites i find 2 different weights for the pulley alone.

i you guys can help me with some ebay links i would be most grateful.

ps: the trottle pedal also pretty much had it, it gets stuck on 1500rpm unless i pull it up with my foot sometimes. if you guys have any brights ideas about solving that one....
