New engine rattle

Postby northwaleshaz » Mon Dec 11, 2017 7:48 pm

Good evening gents. I haven’t posted on here for quite a while as my mk7 has been behaving itself - up until recently that is!
I had a brand new engine fitted last year (along with new injectors) after 3 of my pistons decided to crack and recently it appears to have developed a slight rattle/knock after 1500 rpm. This is most noticeable in 5th gear at 1600rpm and 6th gear around 60-70mph.
I took it back to Ford on Friday (under warranty) and they carried out a pump and pilot learn. The rattle seemed to be gone but it then decided to stall after idling for a couple of minutes or when dipping the clutch approaching a junction etc. Needless to say, I took it back today and according to the service girl they have ‘recalibrated it’
Now, it no longer stalls but the rattle has returned!! Any bright ideas what this could be as I feel a right tit having to go back for a THIRD time  Many thanks.

Don't be embarrassed cos they can't sort your van.
It's there warranty it's there job to sort it.

And just cos its been running fine, doesn't mean you need to be a stranger

Don’t get me wrong, I am pretty pissed off. All the time it’s in the garage I’m losing money because I can’t use the van for work but I’m just a little conscious that they might think I’m being over dramatic. At the end of the day, the last thing I want is for another engine to go bang :(

If it's not running right.... you have every right to be pi$$ed, use the warranty, that's what it's there for.
