Aircon clutch relay

Postby andreasd083 » Tue Dec 12, 2017 12:09 pm

Hi! I'm having problems with the ac not engaging. It does get a signal to the clutch, but magnet clutch is not opening. Tried to fill up the system, but it didn't help. Mechaninc thought I need to replace the clutch

However I have had problems with the speed of the fan when running the Eberspächer heater as the fan runs to slow. Manged to track down three green relays above the fan resistor and one of them seem to have jammed. Anyone knows what function these have and if I can test them? Are they replaceable with standard relays? Ford original was expensive.

Can these problems be related?

Got a part of a diagram, but not he whole system. Only two of the relays are in it

To test the clutch, you need to put a test 12v to the terminal (I used a power probe), and see if the clutch engages. If it doesn't you need a new one, if it does, then there's another problem.

If the fan isn't running full speed then that may be why it's not engaging
