I would guess....Sailsbury Type 53 with a 5.14 ratio. :D

Pre 2000: fitted to Mk3/4/5

Post 2000: If you ordered a heavy duty axle (higher plated mass) at the time of original order on a Mk6, it came fitted with a Type 53. (as far as I know) 8)
No Squire, not just any van....it has to be a Mk7 (VM.1) :D

Thanks for the reply

Do you know if this axle will or can be fitted to an 03 350 lwb 2.4 pick up?
The problem i have is i bought it kind of blind for my cousin's recovery truck and was told it came off a mk6 lwb pick up.The axle on my cousins truck has mounting points for arb and the shocks and this one doesn't.

If i can't use the axle can i swap the diff internals over and would the leaf springs be a straight swap?

Alright buddy. :D

I'm not going to be much help other than to say....check the link:

http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4713

You'll probably find the 5.14 ratio is a Mk5 axle....that's way before my time. :(

Springs are easy enough to check....measure the U-bolt hole centres against the ones on the Mk6.

Check the pinion flange is the same as the one on the Mk6 (number of bolt holes & pitch circle diameter).

Check the center line of the axle to the face of the pinion flange, then check the same measurement on the mk6, you'll then know if the prop wants lenghtened or shortened or is the same.

Cut the shock mountings of the Mk6 axle & weld them to the axle you've got.

I don't know if the diff housing is the same size....what's wrong with the axle that's on the Mk6?

I'd be questioning if an earlier axle is gonna be howling & want's a rebuild before fitting it. :x

Cheers

The axle i bought has been in storage for years and came off a a with less than 1000 miles on it believe it or not .
The mk6 axles diff is whining and the leaf springs are weak,
Cutting the shock mounts off and welding them on would be a problem if that would work .
I'm going to get a look at it over weekend with both sitting side by side and i'll have a look through the thread .

Thanks
