Lee I have the same problem with the 'miles to empty' readout flashing back to four dashes. At the same time as the readout flashing the van starts to violently shake like its about to stall, It does this a few times and then does stall.

Then I switch the van back on and its ok for a little bit and then does it again.

Did you lads get to the bottom of the flashing miles to empty readout?

So i had to use the van yesterday for a job. After 15 miles it happened again but it drove home as long as I kept the revs at 1500 and after 10 mins of driving it stoped and started driving fine again. Is this limp mode that is happening? Even though there is no lights on the dash?

There's so many things it can be that we just have to disprove what it isn't so going round with a multimeter, also disconnect the radio, maybe the speedo. I would like to swap over the speedo to disprove that. Swap relays around in the engine and glove fuseboxes, just swap the same ones which most are, this will hopefully achieve nothing but if something else goes mad then you know it's the relay.

Yea I have tryed to view as much wires as possible today to check for any worn but can't see any. I have also replaced every small fuse in the van thought it was worth a shot for about 16quid.

also while doing all this I unplugged the radio and now don't have the code

No, you can get codes off eBay or the internet for a few pounds.
Used to be able to get them off here but that's a dead subject

Don't suppose you know how many relays the van has do you? Thinking of replacing then just to eliminate them seeing as they are all 10 years old?

There quite a few but you'll be looking at the breakers because Ford will want ridiculous money for them.

I think if you can see them in a newer vehicle at the breakers you'll hourly get them fairly cheap.

Check the nuts on the fuses under the seat are tight and the contacts are clean especially the one with the big blue and red wire

Just checked they were all pretty tight tightened them maybe 2mm. But they do wiggle the part it screws into has a bit of movement in them all is this normal
