Mk7 2.2 rwd clutch/gearbox issue

Driving home from work tonight done 60/70 miles no bother then all of a sudden setting off from lights stuck in first managed to get it out and change gear but then I pulled over and it wouldn't go into gear.so I kept trying and eventually got it in gear and set off and then it let me change gear normally comes to next light all was good pulled away as normal gets to next lights wiuldnt go in gear again this went on another 5/6 times when I got home wouldn't go in gear again to reverse back outside my house any ideas why it seems to be intermittent seem to be when moving seems to be ok
