mk6 earth points, how many?

Postby the_big_fact_hunt » Sat Dec 16, 2017 12:37 am

my mk6 jumbo wont start, just clicks loudly and fairly rapidly, battery is ok, took it from my other van, so im thinking bad earth now.
I know there is one under the seat, one from the starter to the body just forward of there, are there any more to check?

Its parked in an awkward place and ive had to remove a section of fence to move a vehicle from the side of it, need to get it running as its up for sale

I think it's just how you say, battery neg to chassis and starter body to chassis. Sounds like a starter issue, have you tried the hammer technique?

Yeah...Sounds like a "quickly clicking" solenoid may be your issue...

Did it show similar symptoms prior to parking it up..??

no, it drive absolutely fine, better than my mk7 140ps, just slower and much less thirsty lol. only problems are leaks from the roof in the back, and the usual faulty dash.
Been sat for a while as i wanted to be sure the mk7 was ok before i sell it, battery went flat and failed (only 6 months old), replaced that and click click click. Waiting to get the time and weather to drop the starter and test it
