I really can't see any movement, beyond a couple mm with fairly significant pressure on the bar. So, perhaps it's not a pulley. At any rate, I couldn't shift the 15mm retaining bolts, so had to wait anyways!
Wow that's pretty extreme but makes sense. I've seen that done where the bolt is central on the crankshaft, but is it still ok with the offset three bolts on the TDCi?knobby1 wrote:Shankie wrote:Got my new pulley and was about to install it today, but first thought I'd have a good wrench on the pulley with a breaker bar. You can use a Knuckle Bar with socket on the 15mm bolts, they're usually "Effing tight"...just rest the knuckle bar on a car stand or similar and hit the starter...she'll crack them easily..! Did the same with mine.

I haven't myself, but I've had Vantuner do a complete learn on the injector system when he did my EGR delete, so I assume that would have done it. Could try again though...

At any rate Knobrot, do you reckon it's worth doing? I could return this pulley and get £50 back. Or is it worth doing as a wear and item that could possibly solve the issue?
I guess my question is: I've got a pulley with no obvious play. And driveshafts with 5 mm of axial play (similar on both sides). Which do I swap out?
Hah! Wow. Yeah, mine is like your FWD jobbie. There are no obvious signs of damage, and definitely nothing like that photo!knobby1 wrote:Shankie wrote:Wow that's pretty extreme but makes sense. Is your pulley the one with the big rubber insert like this one:
Or this one which I believe to be the FWD jobbie:
Some of them end up like this one:
If you have no major play or perishing in the rubber, it should be fine. Even if it's poorly, It's unlikely to make your whole van shake though. Mine fell off while I was in my driveway, didn't give any symptoms other than a clunk during engine start and stop.
