Aftermarket Lock Set to suit MK6 VJ 2000

Postby Vanman2 » Fri Dec 29, 2017 8:53 pm

Hi, Has anyone fitted aftermarket Lock Sets to a 2000 VJ model that uses a transponder key as standard
I see plenty on auction sites in the UK and other UK sites for sale that are a non transponder type
States transponder chip to be located near lock and they will work
Like to know some more information before I buy a set, do they fit OK
Will they fit all models stated 2000-2006. does the VIN matter
Looks like all the keys are the same from the different sellers
Is it possible to immobilize the transponder and security on the van so you dont need a transponder chip to start
Will fit an alternative security device
Don't see anyone in Australia selling these lock sets
Any imformation would be appreciated thanks

Hi Ned, Thanks for your reply.
Not worried about security - BIG DOG will fix that when the Van is not locked in shed
Want to know what I asked in the post, about aftermarket Locks and disable factory security

Why do you want to get rid of the factory immobiliser?

I gues you could cut the transponder out of your key at glue or tape it to the transponder ring around the ignition barrel

As for the aftermarket lockmsets they're ok (I bought a set for my mk5) a little looser feeling than a proper ford lock but they did their job and worked fine

Found some genuine Ford keys on ebay at a bargain price, had them cut and seem OK
